US Fed rate cut Trump visit to India US trade deal 1757751565705 1757751565911

The Indian stock market is poised to continue its upward trajectory, marking its eighth consecutive session of gains, driven by strong global cues around anticipated US Federal Reserve rate cuts and optimism surrounding trade deals between India and the US. The Nifty 50 index has impressively climbed back to the psychologically significant level of 25,000, closing at 25,114. The BSE Sensex followed suit, approaching the 82,000 mark, while the Bank Nifty index rose by 139 points to finish at 54,809. The broader market has also enjoyed robust support, with the Nifty Midcap100 and Smallcap100 indices increasing by 0.3% and 0.6%, respectively.

As trading activity is set to commence on the NSE and BSE, investors on Dalal Street are eager to see if this uptrend will persist. Market analysts point out that the Nifty 50 is encountering resistance around the 25,300 mark. A decisive break above this level could potentially lead the index to reach 25,800 in the near future.

Five key triggers are expected to shape market movements in the upcoming week. These factors include:

  1. Donald Trump’s Likely Visit to India: Speculation is mounting that US President Donald Trump will visit India in November 2025, fueled by comments from his nominee for Ambassador to India during Senate hearings. This expected visit, tied to the ongoing QUAD Summit, has led analysts to believe that markets might price in expectations of reduced tariffs by the Trump administration.

  2. US Fed Rate Cut Buzz: The upcoming US Fed meeting is highly anticipated, with a widely expected 25 basis points cut already factored into market sentiments. Any surprise announcement, such as a cut of 50 basis points, could significantly bolster the bullish tone of Dalal Street. Additionally, interest rate decisions from other major global banks, including the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan, are likely to be closely monitored for their wider implications on market liquidity and risk appetite.

  3. India-EU Trade Deal: Progress in trade negotiations between India and the European Union has invigorated investor sentiments, with EU officials indicating that they are close to finalizing a deal. This news has stoked speculation that the EU may refrain from imposing 100% tariffs previously suggested by the US.

  4. India-US Trade Deal: Recent positive developments in communication between Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have spurred confidence in the Indian stock market. Further advancement in trade discussions between the two nations could enhance investor outlook significantly.

  5. FIIs’ Trade Pattern: Investors are encouraged to keep a close watch on the trading behavior of Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs). Present challenges affecting the Indian stock market include sluggish earnings growth and continued weakness of the rupee, which are dampening foreign sentiment. Notably, FIIs have faced notable selling pressures, with significant outflows in August. Recent signs show some recovery, as FIIs were net buyers, acquiring shares worth ₹1,977.81 crore in the futures and options segment, while also purchasing around ₹130 crore in the cash market.

Industry experts have advised caution, noting that until the identified concerns are addressed, downward pressure could remain prevalently, and investors should be prepared for potential corrections rather than a substantial rebound.

With these factors at play, market participants are bracing for a week filled with both opportunity and uncertainty as they weigh the impacts of international developments and domestic economic conditions on their investment strategies.
