The U.S. Women’s National Team showcased their impressive skills and tenacity, securing a 3-1 victory against the Dominican Republic in the semifinals of the NORCECA Final Six tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. With this win, the U.S. squad remains unbeaten at 6-0 and now heads into the gold medal match, which is slated for Saturday, September 21, against either Puerto Rico or Mexico.

Throughout the semifinal encounter, both teams demonstrated moments of dominance, but the U.S. effectively capitalized on key plays and errors by their opponents. The American side recorded 11 blocks while benefiting from 28 errors committed by the Dominican Republic, in contrast to their own 18.

Reagan Cooper emerged as the team’s standout player, leading the score with 14 kills. Her exceptional performance was supported by Sami Francis, who not only contributed six kills but also captured six of the team’s total blocks, in addition to an ace. Khori Louis and Skylar Fields both contributed significantly, each scoring 10 points; Louis’s tally came from seven kills and three blocks, whereas Fields added nine kills and a block.

The match unfolded with an energetic start from the U.S. in the first set, beginning with a strong contribution from Kendall Kipp, who recorded five kills and an ace. Despite a brief challenge with the Dominican Republic narrowing the U.S. lead to 21-20, the American team regained control and closed the set at 25-20 after a pivotal block from Francis and Cooper.

The second set saw a stark shift as the Dominican Republic took control, executing a series of three-point runs which allowed them to establish a five-point lead at 14-9. Although Miner’s ace rallied the U.S. team, the momentum did not swing back in their favor, and Dominican Republic seized the set 25-16.

Moving into the third set, both teams exchanged points until the U.S. finally broke through at 10-9. A remarkable scoring streak of 10-4 propelled the Americans ahead to a comfortable 25-18 set win, supported by standout performances from Fields and Francis.

The fourth set continued with an intense back-and-forth rhythm until the match approached a critical juncture at 11-10 for Dominican Republic. Key plays from Louis, Cooper, and Fields allowed the U.S. to pull ahead 19-17. Ultimately, it was Cooper who sealed the match with the final kill, ensuring the U.S.’s place in the gold medal contest with a concluding set score of 25-22.

The U.S. roster for this significant tournament featured a diverse group of talented players from various regions and prestigious colleges, with notable contributions from each player leading to their successful journey thus far.

As the U.S. prepares for the final match, they remain focused and driven, aiming to capture the gold after a remarkable series of performances.
