On the final day of the World Athletics Championships, Team USA showcased its dominance with triumphant performances in the 4x100m relay, clinching gold medals in both the men’s and women’s events. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, including rain, the U.S. women’s team rose to the occasion, sealing their victory with an impressive final leg by Sha’Carri Richardson.

The race was competitive, with Richardson tasked with overcoming a deficit against Jamaica’s Jonelle Smith. In a nail-biting finish, she managed to pass Smith, but the Jamaican sprinter nearly regained the lead in the closing moments. Richardson, however, held her ground, crossing the line just 0.04 seconds ahead, securing a thrilling win for the U.S. women’s team.

The championships concluded on a high note for the U.S. women’s squad, who celebrated multiple successes throughout the event. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden emerged as a standout performer, winning gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and the 4x100m relay. Her achievements made her only the second woman in history to accomplish this rare feat at a single World Championship, joining the ranks of Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

With the women’s victory solidified, the focus shifted to the men’s team, where Noah Lyles delivered a stellar performance in the final leg of the relay. The men’s team clocked in at 37.29 seconds, marking the fifth-fastest 4x100m time in history. Christian Coleman set the pace with a strong start, and exceptional runs from Courtney Lindsay and Lyles ensured their victory. Canada finished in second place with a time of 37.55 seconds, while the Netherlands took third with a time of 37.81 seconds.

This latest triumph in the 4x100m relay marks the second consecutive World Athletics Championships win for the U.S. men, with Coleman and Lyles being pivotal members of both teams. As the championships draw to a close, Team USA’s successful outing highlights their elite status in the world of athletics.
