SpaceX has recently transferred over $133 million in Bitcoin, according to recent findings by blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence. The transactions involved the movement of a total of 1,215 BTC, specifically 300 BTC valued at approximately $33 million and 915 BTC worth around $100.7 million, to multiple new wallets. This activity raises questions regarding the motivations behind the transfers, which remain unclear.
Currently, SpaceX holds a substantial 8,285 BTC, valued at nearly $914 million, making it one of the largest private corporate holders of Bitcoin in the world. Prior to these movements, the company held around 25,000 BTC at one point in 2022 but has since reduced its holdings significantly.
The newly transferred wallets have not been labeled as belonging to the aerospace company, in contrast to previous transactions earlier in the same week. These movements follow a period of relative inactivity, as SpaceX had not recorded on-chain transactions since 2021 until early 2025.
Arkham Intelligence noted that the purpose of these transfers is currently unspecified, leading to various speculations about whether it signifies an internal restructuring, potential enhanced security measures, or something else entirely.
In addition to SpaceX, another company led by Elon Musk, Tesla, also maintains a significant Bitcoin investment. Tesla holds 11,509 BTC, valued at over $1.27 billion, placing it just outside the top ten publicly traded companies in terms of Bitcoin holdings.
Amidst these developments, Bitcoin has seen a slight decrease, down 0.3% to approximately $110,541, which places it about 12% below its historical peak of $126,080. This latest transfer by SpaceX continues to highlight the company’s engagement with cryptocurrency, a topic that has often intertwined with public discussions surrounding Elon Musk’s influence in the market.
