Ford Motor Company has officially unveiled its new world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, known as the Henry Ford II World Center. This state-of-the-art facility spans 2.1 million square feet and is situated on the historic grounds of the company’s original Product Development Center, which dates back to 1953.
The new headquarters features a variety of modern amenities, including studios, garages, fabrication shops, and conference rooms. A focus on sustainability is evident, as the building is equipped with energy-efficient electric and water service technologies designed to minimize its environmental impact.
CBS News Detroit provided a live-streamed coverage of the unveiling event, which featured interviews with several key figures, including Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, Chef Grant Vella, and Ford Land CEO Jim Dobleske. This coverage took place on Sunday, November 15, at 11:30 a.m. ET.
The Henry Ford II World Center is significantly larger than its predecessor, the Glass House, which has served Ford for nearly 70 years. The new headquarters boasts a spacious 160,000-square-foot dining hall, along with an additional 12 acres of green space, promoting a healthy and collaborative work environment. When fully operational, the facility will accommodate around 14,000 employees, all located within a 15-minute walk.
Ford emphasized the necessity for a more dynamic workplace, stating, “The future of our industry demands a different kind of space—one that is more connected, more flexible, and built for the speed of a technology- and software-driven company.”
The majority of the construction is expected to be completed in the coming year, with the final sections aimed for completion by 2027, marking a new era for the automotive giant as it positions itself for future advancements in technology and innovation.
