Crypto.com has announced the promotion of Travis McGhee to the position of Global Head of Predictions, a role in which he will oversee the company’s expanding portfolio of event contracts and prediction markets. This strategic move marks a significant step in Crypto.com’s ambition to extend its services into new jurisdictions.
The promotion comes on the heels of the rapid growth of Crypto.com’s predictions business, which was established in 2024 through the firm’s CFTC-registered exchange and clearinghouse, Crypto.com | Derivatives North America. The platform now offers a diverse range of event contracts covering sports, financials, economics, and politics, supported by integrations with various partners, including Underdog, Truth Social, Hollywood.com, and MyPrize.
Kris Marszalek, Co-Founder and CEO of Crypto.com, expressed excitement over McGhee’s appointment, citing his proven track record as a financial technology leader. Marszalek highlighted McGhee’s understanding of regulation and innovation as pivotal for the company’s aggressive pursuit in this sector. “We saw a significant opportunity when we first launched our initial sports event contracts in 2024, and their popularity and our platform have grown exponentially since,” he remarked.
Before his promotion, McGhee held the position of Managing Director and Global Head of Capital Markets at Crypto.com, where he played a crucial role in broadening the firm’s product offerings to include stock and ETF trading. His past experience includes serving as the CEO of Crypto.com | Derivatives North America, and he has a rich history in the industry, having led Nadex, a CFTC-regulated derivatives exchange that was acquired by Crypto.com. Additional roles in his career span positions at Tradestation, OptionsHouse, and TradeMonster, alongside notable options trading experience on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
McGhee remarked on the firm’s pioneering efforts in the prediction market domain, stating, “Crypto.com is broadly recognized as the most trusted provider of prediction market services, and that journey began when we became the first regulated platform to offer these services to users in the U.S., including the first to offer Sports.” He emphasized the growing integration of prediction markets into mainstream digital engagement and expressed eagerness to enhance Crypto.com’s leadership in this evolving space.
