Trump Attacks CNN's Kaitlan Collins, She Responds with a Sharp Retort

In a recent exchange that has garnered significant attention, President Donald Trump launched a personal attack on CNN Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins, misspelling her name in a post shared on Truth Social. Trump referred to Collins as “Caitlin Collin’s of Fake News CNN, always Stupid and Nasty,” after she questioned the rising costs associated with the construction of a White House ballroom, which has faced considerable criticism in recent months.

In his post, Trump defended the ongoing construction, emphasizing his vision for a “much bigger and more beautiful” structure, asserting that it will be double in size with high-quality finishes. He claimed that the project is “under budget and ahead of schedule,” a bold assertion he has made regarding his initiatives in the past. Furthermore, he emphasized that, contrary to public belief, the construction is entirely funded by private donations rather than taxpayer dollars.

Collins responded to Trump’s outburst via her Instagram Story, pointing out the context of her question during a recent appearance on her show, “The Source with Kaitlan Collins.” She noted that her inquiry was in fact related to the U.S. military’s bombing of alleged drug smuggling vessels off the coast of Venezuela, a situation that has resulted in considerable casualties. Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro has accused the United States of having ulterior motives tied to the country’s vast oil reserves, a claim that the State Department has denied. U.S. authorities maintain that such military actions are aimed at curbing the influx of cocaine and fentanyl into the country.

Collins had highlighted the paradox of Trump accepting FIFA’s new peace prize while the administration conducted military strikes on suspected Venezuelan drug boats. Her question arose during interactions at different events, including the Kennedy Center event and while attending the FIFA World Cup Draw where Trump was present.

This incident marks yet another instance of Trump targeting female reporters. In a similar vein, he previously directed a remark toward Bloomberg News’ Catherine Lucey, referring to her as a “quiet piggy,” a comment defended by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt as “very frank and honest” rather than inappropriate.

Trump’s contentious relationship with the press has been a hallmark of his political career, characterized by a willingness to confront journalists, particularly those who challenge his policies or approach. This latest skirmish underscores the ongoing tensions between the White House and media outlets, especially for those seeking accountability from the administration.
