What to Expect at The Game Awards 2025: Confirmed and Speculated Reveals

As the annual Game Awards approaches, anticipation builds for the slew of video game trailers and gameplay reveals set to be unveiled on December 11. While the ultimate accolade of Game of the Year captures significant attention, it is often the unexpected announcements and surprises that create a buzz among gaming enthusiasts. The mounting speculation hints at both confirmed and rumored titles that could make an appearance, with fans eagerly watching for hints of significant reveals.

Geoff Keighley recently teased a mysterious demon-covered monolith appearing in the Mojave Desert, igniting widespread theories. However, many speculations have already been quashed, ruling out connections to major franchises like Diablo and The Elder Scrolls 6. Instead, fans can look forward to the confirmed attendance of highly anticipated titles. Notably, Capcom will showcase “Resident Evil Requiem,” the latest entry in its long-standing horror series, which is set for early release next year. Rumors suggest the possible inclusion of fan-favorite character Leon Kennedy in this new installment.

Expanding this list, a new playable character in “Invincible VS,” the fighting game adaptation inspired by the cult-classic comic and animated series, is poised for revelation. Additionally, players can expect an in-depth look at “Exodus,” the upcoming sci-fi action RPG from Archetype Studios, a team formed by former BioWare developers known for their work on “Mass Effect.” Creative Assembly is set to reveal a new entry in the Total War series, marking the franchise’s 25th anniversary.

Not to be outdone, the punishing action title “Phantom Blade Zero” from Chinese developer S-Game will unveil its finalized release date alongside a fresh trailer, having originally been scheduled for this year.

The evening promises musical performances as well, with Evanescence set to present their new song “Afterlife” from the Netflix adaptation of “Devil May Cry.”

In the realm of speculation, “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33,” a strong contender for multiple awards, might announce a release date for an anticipated free update that will introduce new dungeon content. There’s also buzz around a broader console release for “Hades 2,” which is currently only available on PC and Switch.

Fans of the “Fallout” franchise can look for potential appearances by stars of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series, which premieres its second season shortly after the awards ceremony. The show could reveal exclusive insights or sneak peeks into upcoming episodes. In the realm of cinematic gaming, “007 First Light,” developed by IO Interactive, might drop new revelations as it gears up for its March 2026 release.

On the Marvel front, “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra,” helmed by renowned director Amy Hennig, could deliver a gameplay reveal despite facing delays. Insomniac’s “Marvel’s Wolverine,” set for a late 2026 release, is another highly anticipated title fans hope to see more of. Similarly, Housemarque’s “Saros” and Naughty Dog’s new project “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” may also find their way onto the stage.

Xbox may unveil long-awaited gameplay for franchises like “Fable” or “Gears of War: E-Day,” and for “Forza Horizon 6,” set in Japan, fans hope to glimpse its striking depiction of Tokyo. The iconic game designer Hideo Kojima is also expected to take the stage, potentially teasing new projects alongside his nominations for “Death Stranding 2.”

The legendary Ken Levine may reveal a long-awaited update on “Judas,” and fans of FromSoftware’s titles could finally receive insights into “The Duskbloods,” a game exclusive to the Switch 2.

On the horizon of dreams, the possibility of a new “Hollow Knight: Silksong” announcement looms. Expectations also swirl around the potential for a new 3D Mario game to coincide with the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Cory Barlog’s rumored new game outside the “God of War” universe may gain traction, in line with the Game Awards’ tradition of unveiling new projects from past winners.

Beyond the realm of speculation, titles like “Bloodborne 2” and BioWare’s next installment in the “Mass Effect” series are subjects of fervent desire. Lastly, the rumor mill buzzes around the long-anticipated “Half-Life 3,” suggesting that an official announcement may be just around the corner.

As The Game Awards draws near, fans are left to ponder what surprises await and what their dream reveals might be. With a mix of confirmed appearances and hopeful rumors, the event promises to be a memorable night for the gaming community.
