Kelsey Grammer has voiced strong support for former President Donald Trump, praising him as potentially “the greatest” president in American history during an interview with Fox News Digital. The interview took place on December 6, just before the Kennedy Center Honors dinner in Washington, D.C. The actor, widely recognized for his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in the beloved sitcoms “Cheers” and its spin-off “Frasier,” expressed admiration for Trump’s ambitions, stating, “There are some things he still wants to get done, and I think that’s terrific.”
Grammer’s support for Trump is well-documented, as he has been an outspoken Republican throughout his career. Earlier this year, he highlighted the importance of having a president who “actually means what they say,” suggesting that Trump’s focus is on the common person—a sentiment he attributes to the modern Republican Party.
In a 2023 interview with BBC Radio 4’s “Today,” Grammer reaffirmed his support for Trump, noting that he was eager to discuss the subject, but mentioned that representatives from Paramount+, the streaming service behind the “Frasier” revival, cut the interview short, seemingly due to his political views. BBC host Justin Webb commented that Grammer was willing to continue the discussion about his support for Trump, which contrasted with the concerns expressed by the PR team.
Grammer, known for his bold stance in Hollywood, has previously remarked on the challenges he faced as an openly Republican figure in the entertainment industry. In a 2012 ABC News interview, he speculated that his political affiliation might have influenced award nominations, declaring being a Republican could be seen as the “worst thing you can be” within the industry. He added, “If you ever tell me the way to think, I’m bound to think the other way,” reinforcing his identity as a cultural rebel.
Grammer joins a list of celebrities who have voiced their support for Trump, including actor Zachary Levi, who noted that his political beliefs have led some to avoid working with him. Similarly, Jon Voight has expressed fervent admiration for Trump, calling him “the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.”
