Southeast Michigan is bracing for another bout of winter weather, as seven counties are currently under a winter weather advisory due to impending snowfall. The advisory will remain in effect until 4 p.m. on Wednesday for Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac, and St. Clair counties.
Residents in Macomb, Oakland, and Livingston counties are experiencing a mix of snow and rain throughout the morning, which is expected to transition to all snow by the afternoon. The National Weather Service reported that these areas received 3-5 inches of snow early Wednesday morning, with an additional 2 inches anticipated later in the day.
As temperatures are projected to drop below freezing in the afternoon, there is a significant concern regarding icy conditions on untreated surfaces, making travel potentially hazardous.
In addition to the local advisories, dozens of counties across the state face similar winter weather warnings as the winter storm progresses. This statewide advisory underscores the need for increased caution amongst drivers and pedestrians alike.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather developments and prepare for challenging conditions as the winter season continues to establish its presence in the region.
