Ranveer Singh’s latest film, ‘Dhurandhar’, directed by Aditya Dhar, is gathering an impressive wave of acclaim as it approaches its first week in theaters. Following endorsements from prominent figures like Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone, veteran actor Anupam Kher has now shared his own enthusiastic response. Kher posted a heartfelt five-minute video expressing his admiration for the film, calling it “unbelievably amazing” and recognizing its significant contribution to Indian cinema.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kher conveyed his emotions, stating, “BHARAT KI FILM: I watched #Dhurandhar on Monday night and immediately recorded this video… Thank you dearest #AdityaDhar for this जांबाज़, बेख़ौफ़, दिलदार and धुरंधर फ़िल्म! (daring, fearless, big-hearted, and powerful film). This film is also a #TRIUMPH for Indian cinema! A story about UNKNOWN and FACELESS INDIANS who are constantly risking their lives for us! Jai Ho! Jai Hind!” He also took a moment to commend his fellow actors, including Rakesh Bedi and Arjun Rampal, for their performances.
Kher elaborated on how the film impacted him emotionally, praising the engaging dialogues and the performances of the entire cast. He remarked, “The dialogues are amazing… ghayal hu isliye ghatak hu… Ranveer is fantastic. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, everybody… Akshaye Khanna, my God!” Following the film’s screening, Kher shared that he immediately called Akshaye Khanna, who expressed his eagerness to discuss the film the next day, though he was unable to reach Ranveer Singh as his phone was off.
Discussing the film’s significance, Kher noted its poignant portrayal of various incidents in India and the role played by neighboring countries. He highlighted how the movie weaves these complex narratives together beautifully, blending emotions, reality, and national context in a thoughtful manner.
He also shared a light-hearted moment from his conversation with director Aditya Dhar, jokingly asking if Dhar had gone mad for creating such an exceptional film, which led to laughter on both sides.
Kher praised Ranveer Singh’s performance, underscoring the actor’s ability to embody a henchman role with calm intensity and quiet power. He stated, “For a hero to play a henchman in a big commercial film, you need huge confidence to do that, and he has that.”
Expressing gratitude for the film’s tribute to the often-ignored national heroes, Kher remarked on how ‘Dhurandhar’ honors the uncelebrated individuals in intelligence agencies who play a crucial role in maintaining the country’s integrity. He concluded his message by congratulating the entire team for their work and shared a touching anecdote regarding the film’s title, originally associated with the late Satish Kaushik.
As for its box office performance, ‘Dhurandhar’ is making a remarkable impact, having already crossed the Rs 195 crore mark in India, as reported by Sacnilk. The film enjoyed a robust opening of Rs 100 crore and is poised to surpass the Rs 200 crore threshold within its first week, with projections for a Rs 20+ crore collection on Day 7. The film’s success underscores the powerful storytelling that resonates with audiences, solidifying its place in contemporary Indian cinema.
