The tracks in question are “I Did Something Bad” and “Delicate.” For “I Did Something Bad,” Swift had originally sung, “But if he drops my name, then I owe him nothin’ / And if he spends my change, then he had it comin’.” The revised lyrics now read, “If a man talks s***, then I owe him nothin’ / And if he calls me a bitch, then he had it coming.”
Similarly, in “Delicate,” a small change was detected: Swift now sings, “Goddamn, never seen that color blue,” a shift from the earlier lyric, “Oh, damn, never seen that color blue.”
Fans quickly took to social media platforms to speculate about the significance of these edits. Many are wondering if the updates are hints towards the much-anticipated Taylor’s Version of Reputation. Swift has already released re-recorded versions of most of her albums, but Reputation and her self-titled debut remain unreleased. This speculation gained further traction as Swift had previously shared her hesitations regarding re-recording Reputation, citing emotional complexities tied to the album.
In a letter to her fans earlier this year, she explained her struggle with the project, noting, “The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it.” She emphasized that while she had recorded her debut album, Taylor Swift, she was waiting for the right moment to unveil it, suggesting that future vault tracks from Reputation might also revisit these themes.
The timing of these lyrical changes coincides with the launch of her new Disney+ docuseries, The End of an Era, which gives fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at her record-breaking Eras Tour.
