Jeff Jarrett Names Top Pay-Per-View Performance, Highlights Match with Shawn Michaels

Jeff Jarrett, a veteran in the professional wrestling scene with nearly 40 years of in-ring experience, recently shared his reflections on some of his most memorable pay-per-view performances. During an episode of his podcast “My World,” Jarrett specifically outlined his top five matches, with a standout performance that left a lasting impression.

At the peak of his list, Jarrett highlighted his Intercontinental Championship bout against Shawn Michaels at WWE’s In Your House 2: The Lumberjacks event in July 1995. Entering the match as the reigning IC Champion, Jarrett ultimately lost the title to Michaels, who began his third reign with the championship following that match. The contest, lasting approximately 20 to 25 minutes, showcased intense action and a compelling narrative that resonated deeply with fans.

“It is a 20, 25 minute [match] of go-go-go, and told a story,” Jarrett reflected. He emphasized that while his career has been marked by numerous significant moments, this match held a special place for him. Notably, he expressed pride in the manner the title switch occurred, stating, “as a heel and switching the title to Shawn… everything clicked.” He weighed this match not only against other notable victories, like his title win against DDP in Chicago, but deemed it a pivotal moment in his career.

Jarrett recalled that during this period, WWE’s programming in the Generation Era was not consistently regarded as their best. However, on that particular night, both he and Michaels delivered a performance that exceeded expectations, with then-WWE CEO Vince McMahon expressing confidence in their ability to succeed. As of 2025, both Jarrett and Michaels have cemented their legacies as WWE Hall of Famers, showcasing the long-term impact of their match.

For fans and wrestling historians alike, Jarrett’s insights into his career and the significance of this match highlight both the evolution of professional wrestling and the personal milestones that shape the narrative of its stars.
