A Freeze Warning has been issued for portions of southeast Texas as a cold front approaches, with temperatures expected to plummet late Sunday night into Monday morning. This weather event raises significant concerns for sensitive plants, pets, and vulnerable populations, as morning temperatures could reach or dip below freezing.
This forecast suggests the coldest temperatures will primarily impact areas north of Interstate 10, with regions north of Conroe potentially experiencing lows in the 20s. The brief period of freezing temperatures marks the first freeze of the season for many residents in the region.
Additionally, forecasters are cautioning that frost and freeze conditions pose a risk to crops and other delicate vegetation. It is advisable for residents to take adequate precautions in anticipation of these frigid temperatures.
Winds from the north at speeds of 5 to 10 mph will contribute to lower “feels like” temperatures, bringing wind chill values down to the mid-20s to low 30s across the affected areas.
In light of the expected cold, residents are reminded of the 4Ps of cold weather safety: People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes. Local counties, including Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria, Galveston, Liberty, Walker, Waller, Polk, Chambers, Wharton, Washington, Matagorda, Grimes, Austin, Colorado, and Trinity, should prepare for the chilling conditions ahead.
