Several fortunate ticket holders throughout Virginia celebrated life-changing wins in the recent Powerball drawing, as over 120,000 tickets sold in the state secured various prizes. Among the winners, one ticket took home an impressive $150,000, while five other tickets each won $50,000.
For the Powerball drawing that took place on Saturday, the winning numbers were 4, 5, 28, 52, 69, with a Powerball number of 20. Despite the excitement of these wins, no tickets matched all six numbers, leading to an estimated jackpot of $1.6 billion for the upcoming drawing.
The $150,000-winning ticket was purchased at a Publix located on South Laburnum Avenue in Richmond. The five $50,000-winning tickets were sold at various locations: a 7-Eleven in Chantilly, a Food Lion in Norfolk, a BJ’s in Falls Church, a Murphy USA in Powhatan, and through the Virginia Lottery mobile app.
Powerball drawings take place three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays— at 10:59 p.m. The lottery offers a wide range of prizes from as little as $2 up to the massive jackpot. However, the odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot stand at 1 in 292,201,338, while the chance of winning any prize is 1 in 25. Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age to join in on Virginia Lottery games.
All profits generated from the Virginia Lottery, including those from Powerball sales, are directed toward K-12 education in the state. In Fiscal Year 2025, the lottery contributed over $901 million to K-12 education, accounting for approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total education budget.
