United States stock markets are set to observe the Christmas holiday with a closure on Thursday, December 25, 2025. The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will both finish early on Christmas Eve, closing at 1 p.m. ET. This early closure is in line with customary practices during the holiday season.
In addition to the stock markets, the U.S. bond market will also close early on December 24, with trading ending at 2 p.m. ET. It will remain closed for the entirety of Christmas Day, as confirmed by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).
After the holiday break, both stock and bond markets will reopen for trading on December 26, resuming normal operations on Wall Street for several days. Investors and traders can anticipate the next market closure on January 1, 2026, when markets will observe New Year’s Day.
In preparation for the New Year celebrations, the bond markets will again see early trading hours on New Year’s Eve, closing at 2 p.m. ET on December 31. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq and NYSE will adhere to their standard closing schedule on that day.
