In a recent update, Samson Mow, the founder of Jan3, has made a bold prediction regarding Elon Musk’s future involvement with bitcoin. Mow stated that he anticipates the Tesla CEO will heavily invest in the cryptocurrency by 2026, posting on social media, “@elonmusk goes hard into BTC.”
Musk’s journey with bitcoin has been a mixed one. While he has publicly endorsed the cryptocurrency on various occasions, he has also expressed concerns about its environmental impact. This tension came to a head in May 2021 when Tesla stopped accepting bitcoin payments, citing environmental reasons. Further complicating Musk’s bitcoin narrative, the company revealed in July 2022 that it had sold 75% of its bitcoin holdings, raising questions about its long-term commitment to the asset.
However, Mow’s forecast for bitcoin’s value is striking. He predicts that by 2026, the price of bitcoin could soar to $1.33 million, representing an increase of approximately 1,367% from its current value of around $90,596. This speculation aligns with comments he made during a June 2025 interview, in which he suggested that a price of $1 million for bitcoin could either be achieved in 2025 or 2026. “It is a given at this point, maybe this year, maybe next year,” Mow noted, indicating a strong belief in the cryptocurrency’s trajectory.
Mow also attributed potential spikes in bitcoin’s value to the wider adoption of the asset by nation-states, which he believes could be a significant driving force.
In contrast, some industry executives have offered more conservative outlooks on bitcoin’s future. For instance, Matt Hougan of Bitwise expressed on December 28 that while he anticipates a long-term upward trend and solid returns, he does not expect any extraordinary gains in the near term.
Apart from his bitcoin price predictions, Mow foresees other significant developments in the cryptocurrency landscape by 2026. He expects that MicroStrategy’s stock (MSTR) will reach $5,000 and that bitcoin will outperform precious metals, especially following December record highs for gold and silver. Additionally, he predicts that at least one country will introduce a Bitcoin bond, further integrating the cryptocurrency into mainstream finance.
The contrasting views within the industry highlight a growing division among experts regarding the future of bitcoin. While Mow remains bullish, others temper their expectations, suggesting a more cautious approach to forecasting cryptocurrency trends.
