Chainlink has made a significant move by acquiring Atlas, the on-chain order flow infrastructure previously developed by FastLane, as part of its initiative to broaden the scope of its oracle-based Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) recapture protocol known as Chainlink SVR. This acquisition not only includes the intellectual property of Atlas but also its key personnel. As a result, current Atlas users will transition to the SVR framework, including those utilizing the now-deprecated RedStone deployment.
The integration of Atlas into Chainlink SVR will bring its proven liquidation auction technology into the fold. Notably, several decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, such as Compound and Venus, are already leveraging Atlas’s technology, which enhances the utility and functionality of the SVR protocol.
Chainlink SVR focuses on Oracle Extractable Value (OEV), allowing lending protocols to reclaim MEV from liquidations through the use of Chainlink Price Feeds. The protocol is currently operational on several blockchain networks, including Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and HyperEVM, with plans to expand to additional blockchains in the near future.
Since its launch, SVR has successfully recaptured more than $10 million in OEV, managing a total of $460 million in liquidations. This success not only benefits protocols like Aave and Compound but also enables revenue sharing with the broader Chainlink Network. FastLane emphasized Chainlink’s scale and robust security as pivotal factors in their decision to transfer Atlas’s stewardship, ensuring that Chainlink will continue to enhance and propagate its technology across supported chains.
Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, expressed optimism regarding the acquisition, stating that it aims to establish “the most effective value recapture system DeFi has ever had.” In line with this, FastLane CEO Alex Watts highlighted the partnership as a means for DeFi protocols to achieve the most credible pathway for on-chain value recapture at scale.
While Atlas will maintain its independent operations under FastLane, the collaboration will strategically position it as a partner to Chainlink, facilitating a smoother SVR onboarding process across various protocols and ecosystems. This integration is expected to accelerate innovation and enhance the overall functionality of DeFi platforms.
