OKX Ventures, the investment branch of a leading global cryptocurrency exchange, has made a notable strategic investment in STBL, a promising stablecoin and yield infrastructure provider. Co-founded by industry veterans Reeve Collins, known for his role in co-founding Tether, and Avtar Sehra, a pioneer in tokenization, STBL has sparked interest with its innovative approach to stablecoin development.
In a recent announcement, STBL revealed a partnership with Hamilton Lane, an alternative investment management firm, and Securitize, a regulated digital securities issuance platform that serves prominent clients, including BlackRock. This collaboration aims to create a stablecoin that is backed by real-world assets (RWA) on OKX’s Ethereum-compatible layer-2 blockchain, known as X Layer.
As part of this ambitious project, the companies will establish a feeder fund to Hamilton Lane’s Senior Credit Opportunities Fund (SCOPE), which will be tokenized and issued through Securitize. This move highlights a growing trend towards integrating tangible assets with digital currencies.
“The RWA markets are entering a new phase, where tokenization must deliver real utility, not just representation,” stated Sehra, who is also the CEO of STBL. He emphasized that STBL offers a specialized architecture for RWA-backed stablecoins, integrating compliant yield management to enhance their market potential.
The partnership also underscores how tokenization can enhance the functionality of assets when aligned with regulated issuance and programmable settlement solutions. Securitize’s CEO, Carlos Domingo, remarked on the transformative potential of this collaboration, stating that it aims to embed institutional private credit directly into on-chain money flows. This advancement will turn tokenized assets into versatile building blocks that can be settled, composed, and utilized across various financial applications, rather than being passively held.
The strategic investment and partnership signal a significant step forward in the evolving landscape of cryptocurrencies and stablecoins, highlighting the potential for innovation in finance through technology and collaboration.
