OKX Ventures has announced a strategic investment in STBL, a company focused on developing advanced stablecoin and yield infrastructure solutions. Co-founded by Reeve Collins, known for co-founding Tether, and tokenization innovator Avtar Sehra, STBL aims to enhance the utility of stablecoins in the cryptocurrency market.
In conjunction with this investment, STBL revealed a partnership with Hamilton Lane, an alternative-investment management firm, and Securitize, a regulated digital securities issuance platform that caters to high-profile clients, including BlackRock. The collaboration focuses on creating a stablecoin backed by real-world assets (RWA) on OKX’s Ethereum-compatible layer-2 blockchain, known as X Layer.
According to the announcement, the initiative includes a feeder fund to Hamilton Lane’s Senior Credit Opportunities Fund (SCOPE), which will be issued and tokenized through Securitize. Avtar Sehra, CEO of STBL, emphasized that the real-world asset markets are evolving, highlighting the need for tokenization to provide genuine utility rather than mere representation. He stated that STBL is designed to deliver a purpose-built architecture for stablecoins that are backed by real-world assets, coupled with compliant yield management.
Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, noted that the collaboration exemplifies how tokenization can enhance asset utility when combined with regulated issuance and programmable settlement. He highlighted that by integrating institutional private credit directly into on-chain transactions, they are transforming tokenized assets into functional components that can be settled, combined, and utilized across a range of financial applications, rather than merely being held as passive investments.
This strategic initiative marks a significant step in the evolution of stablecoin technology, potentially paving the way for increased adoption and integration of real-world assets within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The partnership between STBL, Hamilton Lane, and Securitize exemplifies the growing trend of leveraging blockchain technology to enhance financial products and services.
