Fifty of the world’s premier action sports athletes are set to convene in Los Angeles this Thursday evening for a groundbreaking event, marking the first professional team draft in action sports history. The 2026 MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Draft will be streamed live from Cosm Los Angeles in Hollywood Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. PT, as 40 elite athletes are selected to partake in the inaugural season of the MoonPay X Games League.
This historic draft will be available for fans to watch live on several platforms, including the ESPN App in the U.S., and globally via The Roku Sports Channel, X Games on YouTube, Kick.com, and the X Games TV FAST Channel on Amazon. This multi-platform streaming ensures that fans worldwide can witness the formation of teams in real time as a new era in action sports unfolds.
The MoonPay X Games League is set to redefine the landscape of action sports with a team-based format that goes beyond the traditional standalone X Games events. This innovative league will launch its inaugural summer season in June 2026, with winter disciplines slated to begin in 2027. Each X Games Club (XC) will consist of 10 athletes, with an equal representation of five men and five women, selected from the draft.
Four cities globally will host the initial X Games Clubs: XC Los Angeles, XC New York, XC São Paulo, and XC Tokyo. These clubs are poised to invigorate the competitive spirit through a series of three summer events that will introduce rivalries, fan engagement, and a cohesive team identity to the action sports community.
During the draft, general managers for each club—Sharalee “Haze” Hazen (XC Los Angeles), Steve Rodriguez (XC New York), Bob Burnquist (XC São Paulo), and Harumi Suzuki (XC Tokyo)—will choose from a pool of 180 athletes over five rounds, each consisting of eight selections. The draft order was determined earlier through a randomized lottery involving the general managers. The finalized order will see XC New York picking first, followed by XC Los Angeles, XC Tokyo, and XC São Paulo.
Among the athletes anticipated to participate are numerous titans of their sports, including skateboarder Tom Schaar, two-time X Games BMX Park gold medalist Hannah Roberts, rising skateboarding star Arisa Trew, versatile BMX rider Kevin Peraza, and iconic 15-time X Games gold medalist Nyjah Huston.
The draft is sponsored by league title partner MoonPay, with additional backing from founding partner Monster Energy and other partners including Stake, Exodus, 805, High Noon, and Kraken Rum.
The inaugural MoonPay X Games League Summer Season is set to kick off on June 26 in Sacramento, followed by X Games Japan on July 4–5. The season will culminate with the league championship taking place from July 24–26 inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The team accumulating the highest score throughout the season will be crowned the first-ever MoonPay X Games League champion and will receive both the league title and a team purse.
