In a significant development for Vietnam’s burgeoning cryptocurrency sector, OKX Ventures and HashKey Capital have announced their investment in the Vietnam Prosperity Crypto Asset Exchange Joint Stock Company (CAEX), establishing a strategic partnership aimed at bolstering the exchange’s operations and compliance standards.
The announcement, made by CAEX on Friday, highlights the collaboration between prominent investors and founding shareholders, including VPBankS, a branch of Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank, and LynkiD, a technology partner within the VPBank ecosystem. The combined contributions from these entities are set to meet the minimum capital requirement of VND 10 trillion (approximately $380 million), which is essential for participation in Vietnam’s pilot program for regulated cryptocurrency trading scheduled for April.
In addition to the financial backing, both HashKey and OKX Ventures plan to assist CAEX in enhancing its technical infrastructure, security systems, and compliance measures, as well as improving risk management and liquidity connectivity. This multi-faceted support reflects the firms’ focus on establishing a secure environment tailored for digital asset transactions.
Netero Dai, vice president of OKX Global Markets, emphasized the importance of Vietnam’s evolving regulatory landscape in the firm’s decision to invest. He noted, “Vietnam is one of the most dynamic markets for digital assets, with strong user adoption and a clear move toward a regulated framework.” This strategic partnership with CAEX is in alignment with OKX’s mission to create a safe and trustworthy environment for cryptocurrency transactions.
HashKey Exchange BG CEO Haiyang Ru echoed this sentiment, highlighting Vietnam’s status as a vibrant and high-potential market in Asia. “We are honored to partner with CAEX to share our long-term vision of compliance, transparency, sustainability, and market-wide trust,” he stated, reinforcing the importance of building a reliable framework for digital assets.
CAEX’s Chairman and CEO, Nguyen Hong Trung, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that it will enable the exchange to adhere to international standards. “CAEX is committed to building a transparent, secure, and accessible exchange where every investor can participate, unlock opportunities, and enjoy a dynamic experience in the era of digital assets,” he asserted, setting a forward-looking agenda for the exchange as it steps into a new regulatory era.
This partnership is poised to reshape the landscape of cryptocurrency trading in Vietnam, promoting safe practices and fostering growth in the crypto market, while also positioning CAEX as a leader in compliance and innovation.
