In a significant move to bolster animal welfare, MoonPay, in collaboration with the Dogecoin Foundation and its corporate arm, House of Doge, has donated 1 million DOGE—approximately $95,000—to the AKC Humane Fund. This contribution aims to enhance the ongoing capability for crypto donations to the dog welfare charity through MoonPay’s payment infrastructure.
The funds raised will support vital services such as shelter assistance for pet owners impacted by domestic violence, efforts for stray dog rescues, and veterinary care for families grappling with financial difficulties across the United States. MoonPay Ventures, a division of the donation facilitator, is known to invest in various initiatives, with no obligation to alter editorial independence in reporting.
Marco Margiotta, CEO of House of Doge, expressed enthusiasm about the donation’s impact, stating, “This campaign brings Dogecoin’s purpose to life. By enabling Dogecoin-powered donations for a cause that directly supports dogs, we’re creating a meaningful connection between our community and making a real-world impact.”
Looking ahead, the partnership promises to extend beyond the one-time donation, with MoonPay Commerce tasked with processing future contributions in Dogecoin or other cryptocurrencies directed to the AKC Humane Fund. MoonPay President Keith Grossman referred to the initiative as a milestone for crypto adoption, remarking, “Dogs have always brought out the best in us. Now, with a little help from the Doge community, they are bringing out the best in crypto too.”
Dogecoin, initially created as a humorous take on cryptocurrency, has maintained its relevance and popularity, currently trading at about $0.095 and ranking as the 10th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
