Khairi Azmi has made a significant move in the fintech arena by joining Paxos as the CEO of Paxos Global and Head of APAC. This announcement was recently highlighted on his LinkedIn profile, marking a pivotal step in his career.
Operating from Singapore, Khairi is set to spearhead Paxos’ business initiatives throughout the Asia Pacific region, where his primary focus will be on the company’s regulated stablecoins and digital asset infrastructure. His responsibilities will encompass the formulation of regional strategy as well as the development of business partnerships with various stakeholders, including cryptocurrency exchanges, banks, brokerages, payment service providers, and technology firms.
In his role, Khairi will also oversee the operations of Paxos’ office in Singapore and collaborate closely with regional regulators. This collaboration is particularly crucial as Paxos aims to promote the adoption of its Global Dollar (USDG), a US dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Paxos Digital Singapore Pte. Ltd. This entity is noteworthy for being licensed as a Major Payment Institution in Singapore, signaling its compliance with stringent regulatory standards.
Before his tenure at Paxos, Khairi spent six years at OKX, where he was instrumental in developing the company’s institutional business across the Asia Pacific and also served as the General Manager for the Singapore office. His extensive experience is further enriched by previous roles at several prominent financial institutions, including Seabury Global Markets, EBS Dealing Resources, Integral Development Corporation, OANDA, and DBS Vickers Securities. Throughout his career, he has concentrated on institutional sales, foreign exchange, and regional business development, which positions him as a well-rounded leader in the fintech domain.
As Khairi takes on this new challenge, the industry will be watching closely how his leadership influences Paxos’ growth and the broader acceptance of digital assets within the region.
