After months of anticipation, Ferrari has unveiled the first full view of its highly awaited Luce electric vehicle. This marks a significant milestone for the iconic car manufacturer, as it is not only their first foray into electric vehicles but also their second-ever four-door model and the first to feature five seats.
The Luce has been crafted in collaboration with renowned designers Jony Ive and Marc Newson through their design collective, LoveFrom. According to Ferrari, the duo was instrumental in steering the design trajectory of the vehicle from its inception, ensuring a cohesive vision both inside and outside.
Earlier this year, the details about the Luce’s interiors were shared, showcasing a modern aesthetic that mirrors Ferrari’s long-standing commitment to luxury and performance. Tim Stevens, reporting for Engadget, provided some insights into his initial impressions of the vehicle after a closer look. While he did not have the opportunity to experience the fully functioning interior controls or take the car for a test drive, Stevens described the Luce as having a more SUV-like presence than that of a conventional sports car.
Powering the Luce are four motors that collectively produce an impressive 1,035 horsepower, setting a high bar for electric performance. One of the standout features noted by Stevens is the vehicle’s auditory experience. Rather than relying solely on synthesized sounds typical of many electric vehicles, the Luce enhances the auditory feedback by amplifying vibrations from the rear motors. This approach aims to provide a more authentic driving experience.
Although Ferrari has not yet announced pricing for the U.S. market, the starting price in Italy is set at €550,000, positioning the Luce as the most expensive Ferrari to date. As the brand embraces electric mobility without compromising its legacy, the Luce represents a bold leap into the future while adhering to the luxurious standards that Ferrari is known for.
