Apple’s streaming services, including Apple Music and Apple TV, experienced a brief outage that began around 2:53 PM ET, as noted on the company’s System Status page. The disruption affected several features, including Apple TV’s Channels, lasting until approximately 4:31 PM ET when the issue was resolved.
Reports of problems with both Apple Music and Apple TV surfaced around 2:33 PM ET, prior to Apple’s acknowledgment of the outage on its official site. The company indicated that the outage affected only “some” users, while anecdotal evidence from multiple staff members at Engadget suggested that many were still able to stream content during the outage period.
Engadget has reached out to Apple for further clarification regarding the scale of the impact and the number of users affected by the service disruption. Updates will be provided if additional information is made available.
This outage also highlights Apple’s dependence on third-party cloud services, including those provided by Amazon. The status of the streaming services can therefore be influenced by the stability of these external data centers. A similar incident occurred in October 2025, when an Amazon Web Services outage disrupted services and apps like Alexa, Fortnite, and Snapchat for hours.
As of December 10, the situation has been resolved, and all services are functioning normally.
