Authorities in Hudson County are conducting an investigation into a tragic pedestrian accident involving a New Jersey Transit bus that occurred earlier this week in North Bergen. The incident took place just before 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and JFK Boulevard East.
Upon arriving at the scene, North Bergen police officers discovered an injured man who had been struck by the bus. The vehicle remained at the site of the incident as emergency responders tended to the victim. The injured man has since been identified as Alan Harris, a 66-year-old resident of Hackensack.
Following the accident, Harris was promptly transported to Palisades Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. His passing prompted the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit to take over the case on Thursday, December 11, 2025. This specialized unit is collaborating with the North Bergen Police Department to conduct a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward to assist in the inquiry. The local community has expressed sorrow over the loss, highlighting the need for continued awareness and safety measures in high-traffic areas.
