The Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) has announced the appointment of Conner Brown as its new Head of Strategy. Brown, who served as Counsel to former Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, brings a wealth of legislative expertise to BPI, which aims to leverage legislative momentum to further educate policymakers on the significance of Bitcoin and its potential role in the United States’ future.
During his tenure in the Senate, Brown played a crucial role in advancing groundbreaking digital asset legislation. Notably, he was instrumental in the drafting and promotion of the BITCOIN Act, which seeks to establish a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. He also contributed to the GENIUS Act, a significant piece of legislation concerning stablecoins, which was signed into law earlier this year.
In his new role, Brown expressed his commitment to strengthening the Institute, stating, “Bitcoin deserves an institution in Washington that operates with the same integrity and resilience as the network itself. That’s what BPI is building, and I’m proud to join the team advancing that mission.” His work has focused on increasing awareness among lawmakers about the benefits of embracing innovative technologies, particularly in the realms of Bitcoin and artificial intelligence.
David Zell, President of BPI, praised Brown’s contributions, emphasizing his critical role in promoting Bitcoin within Congress. “Conner has been instrumental in popularizing Bitcoin in Congress, and we couldn’t be more excited for him to join our efforts to help America and Bitcoin flourish together,” Zell remarked.
Before his role in the Senate, Brown held positions at prestigious law firms, including Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Sidley Austin. He earned his Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School, where he also co-presided over the Stanford Blockchain Club, indicating his long-standing commitment to blockchain technology.
The Bitcoin Policy Institute is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank focused on guiding the United States through the rise of Bitcoin and other transformative technologies by emphasizing research and education. As it moves forward with Brown at the helm of its strategy, the organization hopes to enhance its influence and advocacy efforts in the legislative landscape.
