Universal exchange Bitget has announced a partnership with UNICEF aimed at empowering youth in the digital economy. The collaboration focuses on enhancing digital learning programs targeted at young people, with a goal of reaching over a million individuals by 2027.
In a recent press release, UNICEF highlighted that Bitget’s support is instrumental in scaling its inclusive, youth-centered digital education initiatives. These programs are designed to foster confidence, skills, and long-term economic resilience among youth. A particular emphasis has been placed on empowering adolescent girls in Cambodia, allowing them to thrive through opportunities in video game development.
The initiative, known as the Game Changers Coalition, is developed by the UNICEF Office of Innovation, with Bitget’s backing. It aims to provide young individuals with hands-on experience in coding, storytelling, and financial literacy—skills deemed essential for navigating Southeast Asia’s rapidly changing technological landscape. Despite the surge in demand for digital talent, UNICEF pointed out that girls and women are still significantly underrepresented in tech fields. The organization underscored that systemic barriers limit access to digital skills, professional networks, and the latest technology.
Bitget’s role in this initiative extends beyond its financial influence in the cryptocurrency realm. Recently, reports indicated that the exchange contributed $1.54 million to assist victims of a fire incident in Hong Kong, illustrating its commitment to social responsibility.
The involvement of Bitget in the Game Changers Coalition was underscored by a visit from the exchange’s Chief Marketing Officer, Ignacio Aguirre, to Cambodia. During his visit, Aguirre engaged with teachers and students participating in the Coalition, dedicating time to celebrate one of the winning teams from the first global UNICEF Game Jam—a virtual hackathon connecting young creators from eight participating countries. Cambodia was notably recognized for its strong performance, winning four out of seven global award categories.
Aguirre expressed his admiration for the determination and talent exhibited by Cambodian youth. He emphasized Bitget’s belief that everyone should have access to opportunities in the digital world, from coding and design to new sectors like blockchain technology. “I am excited to see this generation of young digital creatives sharpening their skills to help shape an inclusive, equitable, and prosperous digital future,” he stated.
With the support of Bitget, UNICEF aims to extend its reach to 1.1 million people across 12 countries by 2027, furthering its global mission to enhance learning and skills development for girls. The initiative continues to evolve, garnering support from various stakeholders including governments, civil society organizations, and private-sector partners such as Bitget.
