Bitget has announced a partnership with UNICEF aimed at enhancing digital education programs for girls in Cambodia. The initiative is part of UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition, designed to provide young people with practical technology skills, particularly focusing on video game development as a key educational tool.
This partnership seeks to address ongoing structural barriers that hinder girls’ participation in the digital economy throughout Southeast Asia. Through the program, adolescent girls will gain hands-on experience in essential skills such as coding, design, storytelling, and basic financial literacy. The use of video game creation allows students to not only engage with technology but also to learn how to collaboratively solve problems, design characters, and craft narratives.
Bitget’s involvement, alongside support from the Global Video Games Coalition and the Micron Foundation, aims to broaden youth-centric digital learning opportunities that will foster long-term economic resilience. During a recent visit to Cambodia, Bitget Chief Marketing Officer Ignacio Aguirre met with students and educators participating in the initiative. He expressed his admiration for the talent and determination displayed by the Cambodian youth, reinforcing Bitget’s commitment to equipping individuals with the skills needed to thrive in the digital realm.
The visit included a meeting with one of Cambodia’s standout teams from the inaugural global UNICEF Game Jam, a virtual hackathon that attracted participants from eight countries. Cambodian teams excelled during this event, winning four out of seven global categories. The National Game Jam, held in Phnom Penh, featured over 600 participants aged 10 to 18, with more than 65% being girls from 14 schools across 11 provinces. The projects showcased during the event focused on addressing local challenges and experiences.
In addition to their educational initiatives, Bitget has recently expanded access to digital finance by introducing a zero-fee USDC on-ramp in collaboration with Alchemy Pay. This new feature allows users to purchase USDC without incurring transaction or network fees, which is facilitated through various payment methods including Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, and local bank transfers. This initiative aims to simplify the process of using stablecoins for everyday transactions, making digital finance more accessible across regions including Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Africa.
Overall, both initiatives highlight Bitget’s commitment to fostering digital literacy and economic empowerment among young people, particularly girls, in emerging economies.
