In a significant development for the cryptocurrency landscape, Bitget Wallet has unveiled gas-free transaction support for the Base network, a burgeoning Layer 2 ecosystem of Ethereum. This innovative feature allows users to conduct up to three gas-free transfers and three gas-free swaps daily on the Base network, eliminating the need to hold ETH for transaction fees. The gas-free initiative is set to last for an initial term of three months, providing broad access to users engaging with the platform via the Bitget Wallet mobile application.

This launch follows Bitget Wallet’s recent integration with Aerodrome, a prominent decentralized exchange on Base, which offers users capabilities for trading, staking, and liquidity all within the Bitget Wallet app.

Jamie Elkaleh, the CMO at Bitget Wallet, emphasized that expanding gas-free support to Base aligns with the company’s larger strategy of simplifying on-chain access across rapidly growing ecosystems. By abstracting gas fees and removing the necessity for users to hold gas tokens across various chains, Bitget aims to reduce a significant barrier for everyday users, fostering easier onboarding and fewer technical challenges.

The Base integration contributes to Bitget Wallet’s overarching effort to mitigate transaction cost friction via its Paymaster infrastructure. This system sponsors eligible user gas fees programmatically across multiple supported blockchains. With the addition of Base, Bitget Wallet now offers gas-free support across four networks, joining Arbitrum, Solana, and TRON.

Internally, Bitget Wallet has reported substantial user engagement and success with its gas-free transaction capabilities, noting over 80,000 gas-free transactions on Solana, more than 10,000 on Arbitrum, and total savings of over 250,000 USDT in gas fees on TRON.

Currently, Bitget Wallet supports native gas abstraction on four major networks, supplemented by the GetGas system, which allows for pre-funded balances that cover fees on ten significant blockchains. With compatibility for over 130 blockchains, Bitget Wallet is accessible worldwide through both mobile and browser extensions.

As a non-custodial crypto wallet, Bitget Wallet is committed to ensuring a simple and secure cryptocurrency experience for users, boasting over 80 million worldwide. Its diverse offerings include swaps, market insights, staking, rewards, and decentralized application exploration, collectively aimed at making crypto a commonplace part of daily life for users globally. Backed by a substantial user protection fund of over $700 million, Bitget Wallet prioritizes the security of users’ assets, encapsulating its mission to simplify and democratize access to cryptocurrency.
