Campbell’s is firmly addressing concerns raised by recent leaked audio that suggested the company utilizes 3D-printed chicken, lab-grown chicken, or other forms of bioengineered meat in its soup products. The food giant took to its website to clarify the situation following the emergence of the recording, which allegedly features Martin Bally, Campbell’s vice president of information technology, discussing the company’s meat sourcing.

In its statement, Campbell’s categorized the comments from the leaked audio as “false” and “inaccurate.” The company emphasized that it exclusively sources chicken from reputable suppliers in the United States, all of which adhere to USDA standards. “We do not use lab-grown chicken or any form of artificial or bioengineered meat in our soups,” the statement added, aiming to reassure consumers about the quality of its ingredients.

The audio, which has become a focal point of controversy, was released as part of a lawsuit filed by a former employee. In the recording, the individual purportedly captures Bally making a series of comments that not only touch on the company’s meat sourcing but also include offensive language regarding certain demographics, labeling Campbell’s food as suitable for “poor people.” During the conversation, the voice believed to be Bally expresses a strong aversion to the idea of consuming meat produced through 3D printing technology.

In light of these serious allegations, Campbell’s has placed Bally on administrative leave pending a thorough investigation into the situation. The company stressed that Bally’s role in IT does not pertain to the actual production processes of their food, underlining that such comments do not reflect Campbell’s operational practices or values.

The incident has ignited discussions about food safety, public trust in major food brands, and the potential implications of workplace conduct on company reputations. As investigations proceed, Campbell’s remains committed to transparency about its ingredient sourcing and manufacturing processes.
