As Christmas approaches, residents are reminded that many services and facilities will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. The U.S. Postal Service has announced that all post offices will be closed, with no mail deliveries scheduled for the holiday. Regular operations will resume on December 26, allowing customers to conduct their business the day after Christmas.
In addition to postal services, major banks, including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and JPMorgan Chase, will also be shuttered on Christmas Day. Customers looking to visit their local branches for banking transactions will need to wait until these institutions reopen on December 26 during their regular hours.
Shipping services will be similarly affected. Both UPS and FedEx will halt all pickup and delivery operations on December 25. Although UPS Store locations may be closed, the company does offer UPS Express Critical services year-round for urgent shipping needs, which can be accessed by contacting their customer support. FedEx Offices will also not be open on Christmas, but their Custom Critical service remains operational throughout the year for essential deliveries.
Furthermore, stock markets, including the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange, will observe the holiday by closing early on Christmas Eve at 1 p.m. and remaining closed for the entirety of Christmas Day. The U.S. bond market will also close early on December 24, at 2 p.m., with operations pausing on Christmas as well. Markets will resume normal operations on December 26.
With the holiday season upon us, planning ahead is crucial for those wishing to mail packages, conduct banking business, or engage in shipping services. While some restaurant chains may keep their doors open on December 25, nearly all grocery and retail establishments will also be closed for the holiday.
