In a significant move within the financial technology sector, Crypto.com has appointed Sam Irwin as Director of VIP Relationship Management, marking another strategic hire as the company expands its operations beyond cryptocurrencies. Irwin, who has had a distinguished 18-year career at IG Group, started as a Sales Trader in 2007 and ascended to various leadership roles, including Head of Client Management UK since 2021.
Based in London, Irwin’s extensive experience in the online brokerage space is expected to bolster Crypto.com’s efforts as it diversifies into traditional financial instruments trading. Earlier this year, the company revealed its ambition in this regard by acquiring a CySEC CIF license through its purchase of A.N. Allnew Investments Ltd, which was associated with the BrightFX CFDs brokerage brand.
Crypto.com has been actively enhancing its executive team, bringing onboard several professionals from IG Group and other CFD brokers in anticipation of its growth trajectory. Recent hires include Chris Old as VP of Organic Growth, Kevin Algeo as head of Capital Markets, and Manuel Del Aguila Barbero, who is now SVP of Global Growth Marketing. The exchange has also welcomed Nicolò Pagliari from Saxo as VP of Growth and Media, and Michael Floros, former CEO of LegacyFX, as GM of Crypto.com Cyprus.
