Mitchell has navigated various eccentric games throughout the series, showcasing his ability to thrive under pressure. He pointed out that his experience as a firefighter has provided him with a unique advantage in handling high-pressure situations. “Being a fireman has helped me with handling the pressure and making good decisions while under all that pressure,” he explained in a recent interview. “When you work a high-pressure job, it just helps you think through problems at a point where you learn to focus on the situation and block out what’s going on around you.”
In the course of the competition, Mitchell’s fellow firefighter, Donnell Clayton, was also a contestant but was eliminated in the earlier rounds, finishing in 71st place. Clayton reflected on the experience, highlighting the camaraderie forged during the journey. “This has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience. First off, to travel the world with a good friend was great. We both felt like we won just from being on the game show,” he stated.
The highly anticipated finale of “99 to Beat” is set to air on FOX on Wednesday, December 10, at 9:00 p.m. ET. The show, which premiered on September 24, features a dynamic hosting duo comprising sportscaster Erin Andrews and actor/comedian Ken Jeong, who has ties to Detroit.
