The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for three widely consumed Coca-Cola beverages due to concerns they may contain metal fragments. The affected products include Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, regular Coca-Cola, and Sprite, all of which were manufactured by Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, LLC, based in Texas.
The recall was initiated on October 3, but the FDA officially classified it as a Class II recall on October 20. This classification indicates that there is a potential risk of temporary or medically reversible health issues associated with consuming the contaminated drinks.
Consumers in Texas may have purchased these affected soda products, with a total of more than 4,000 units potentially compromised. To identify whether you have the recalled beverages, check the product codes on the packaging:
– 12-pack Coca-Cola Zero Sugar cans: Codes 49000042559 / FEB0226MAA
– 35-pack Coca-Cola Zero Sugar cans: Codes 49000058499 / FEB0226MAA
– 24-pack Coca-Cola cans: Codes 49000012781 / JUN2926MAA
– 35-pack Coca-Cola cans: Codes 49000058468 / JUN2926MAA
– 12-pack Sprite cans: Codes 49000028928 / JUN2926MAA
– 12-pack Sprite cans: Codes 49000028928 / JUN3026MAB
– 35-pack Sprite cans: Codes 49000058482 / JUN2926MAA
It is important to note that no other Coca-Cola products are included in this recall at this time.
If you have any of the recalled products in your possession, it is strongly advised not to consume them, as the presence of metal fragments poses a risk of internal injury. Consumers should either dispose of the affected cans or return them to the retailer where they were purchased for a full refund.
