Geoff Jiang Guofei, the former president of Ant Digital Technology Business Group, has taken on a new role as the chairman of the Web3 Development Committee at Yunfeng Financial Group, a company listed in Hong Kong. This transition was highlighted in a recent fact sheet published for investors on the firm’s website. Jiang, who had a significant role in leading Ant’s blockchain initiatives, is recognized as one of the key figures spearheading Yunfeng’s foray into Web3 technologies, which harness decentralized innovation to address challenges in traditional finance.
Alongside Jiang, the Yunfeng document identifies Xiao Feng, chairman and CEO of HashKey Group, and Liang Xinjun, co-founder of Fosun International, as integral members of the company’s Web3 talent pool. Both Feng and Liang hold positions as independent non-executive directors at Yunfeng, further solidifying the firm’s commitment to navigating the complexities of the evolving Web3 landscape.
Joining Ant in 2017, Jiang played a crucial role in the development and launch of Trusple, a blockchain-driven platform designed to facilitate cross-border trade through smart contracts. His tenure also included a position as head of Damo Academy’s Fintech Labs, where he contributed to various innovative projects. Jiang departed from Ant in 2024 and subsequently served as the chief scientist at China Electronics, a state-owned enterprise.
His recent appointment at Yunfeng signals the company’s ambitious strategy to explore “frontier areas” in technology. The Web3 sector is positioned as a transformative space, potentially resolving numerous issues related to costs, efficiency, geographic limitations, and security inherent in traditional financial systems.
In a significant move to bolster its Web3 ambitions, Yunfeng recently invested US$44 million to acquire 10,000 ether for what it describes as a “strategic reserve.” This acquisition is intended to provide essential infrastructure support for projects centered around tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). Additionally, Yunfeng has forged a partnership with Ant Digital Technologies, marking another step in its strategy to leverage blockchain technology in innovative financial solutions.
