In an intense showdown at the EuroBasket 2025 championship game, Germany edged out Türkiye with a final score of 88-83, securing their first title in more than three decades. The match was a thrilling contest marked by dramatic lead changes and a nail-biting finish.

Germany found themselves trailing by one point with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter when superstar Dennis Schröder made a pivotal layup, putting his team ahead. His momentum continued as he hit a pull-up jumper on the subsequent possession, extending Germany’s lead in a critical moment of the game.

Schröder showcased an outstanding performance, finishing with 16 points and a game-high 12 assists, demonstrating his playmaking abilities alongside a solid shooting performance of 5-of-11 from the field, including 1-of-3 from three-point range. Additionally, he contributed three rebounds to the victory, which ultimately earned him the MVP title of the tournament at age 31.

On the other side, Alperen Şengün emerged as a standout player for Türkiye, scoring a remarkable 28 points on 11-of-22 shooting. Along with his scoring prowess, he added three rebounds and three assists, although he faced challenges with three turnovers throughout the match.

The game was characterized by its balance, featuring 15 lead changes and neither team leading by more than six points after the first quarter. Türkiye held a slim 46-40 advantage at halftime, but Germany responded fiercely out of the break, launching a 10-3 run to reclaim the lead.

As the match progressed into the final frame, both teams continued trading baskets, intensifying the competitive atmosphere. In addition to Schröder’s heroics, Isaac Bonga contributed significantly with 20 points, shooting an impressive 8-of-11 from the field. Meanwhile, Franz Wagner added 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, proving instrumental in Germany’s overall effort.

For Türkiye, Cedi Osman provided support with 23 points, but the rest of the team struggled to match the scoring output, as no other player exceeded 13 points. A key factor in Germany’s victory was their effectiveness from long range, connecting on 54 percent of their three-point attempts, a stark contrast to Türkiye’s 36 percent from beyond the arc.

This victory not only signifies a historic moment for German basketball but also highlights the exceptional talent on display during the tournament. As the celebrations begin, Germany looks poised to continue building on this success moving forward.
