The Hillshire Brands Co., based in Texas, is recalling a staggering 58 million pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products due to concerns over potential contamination with extraneous materials. This announcement was made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on Saturday.
The specific contamination issue relates to the presence of wood fragments found within the batter of the affected products. This discovery has raised serious safety concerns, especially after multiple consumer complaints were reported, including five instances where individuals sustained injuries.
The recalled products were packaged between March 17, 2025, and September 26, 2025, and carry the establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” on their labels. Consumers can find a comprehensive list of the affected products and their respective labels on the official FSIS website.
These items were distributed nationwide, sold online, and supplied to retail and food service locations, including schools and Department of Defense facilities. Customers who have purchased these products are advised to return them to the place of purchase if they are unopened. Alternatively, they should dispose of the impacted items.
