In a recent episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kyle Richards candidly discussed her romantic life following her split from ex-husband Mauricio Umansky, shedding light on a relationship that has faced scrutiny from her fellow housewives. During an intimate exchange with co-star Erika Jayne, Richards revealed that the speculation surrounding her romance had a profound impact, ultimately leading to its premature end.
Richards, 56, expressed her feelings about the delicate situation by questioning the expectations placed upon her. “Erika, if you were seeing someone that you cared very much about, that specifically says, ‘Please, I’m not a part of this group, be respectful,’ would you betray that person because people are curious?” she asked. In response, Jayne affirmed her loyalty to protect that person, underscoring the challenges Richards faced in maintaining her privacy.
Despite her usual openness, Richards shared that keeping her relationship under wraps was a difficult decision. “I’ve always told everybody to be honest, and I’m an honest person. I’m not a liar,” she said. “But I don’t know what people want from me. I am single now, okay? I was seeing someone who I cared about very much.”
Reflecting on her relationship, Richards confided that she had fallen deeply for someone after her July 2023 separation from Umansky, her husband of 27 years. Together, they have three daughters: Alexia, 29, Sophia, 25, and Portia, 21, along with Richards’ daughter Farrah, 37, from a previous relationship. She shared, “When I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that. I’m an open person like that. That doesn’t mean the person I’m with feels the same way. All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is ultimately what ended it.”
Although she did not specify who her former partner was, rumors had circulated regarding her connection with musician Morgan Wade, fueled by Richards’ appearance in Wade’s music video earlier this year. During a previous reunion special, Richards expressed her reluctance to bring Wade into the spotlight, mentioning that the unwanted attention heightened her anxiety.
Jayne provided further insight into Richards’ predicament, highlighting the emotional turmoil of having to keep such a significant part of her life private. “Imagine getting out of a close to 30-year marriage, unexpectedly falling in love with someone, but you can’t talk about that love,” Jayne noted. “That’s a really hard place to be. Even though this relationship is over, the women are still going to question Kyle until she addresses it once and for all.” She praised Richards for her honesty and vulnerability at this stage in her life.
Looking ahead, Richards expressed a desire to settle down again in the future. Ahead of the Real Housewives season 15 premiere, she remarked, “I hope to get married again one day. I mean, listen, I’m someone who really enjoys being married. So I won’t be single my whole life.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills continues to air Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, with episodes available to stream the following day on Peacock.
