In a heartfelt Instagram post, actress Lili Reinhart disclosed her long and challenging journey to receiving an endometriosis diagnosis. The revelation came after she underwent laparoscopic surgery, officially confirming her condition last week. Reinhart shared candid insights about her experiences, detailing several hospital visits and consultations with multiple urologists and gynecologists, who, she noted, failed to consider endometriosis as a possible cause of her persistent symptoms.
Reinhart recounted how she had previously been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis by a urogynecologist, who informed her that there was no cure for her condition and suggested that lasting relief was unlikely. Despite consulting many medical professionals—eight to ten, as she mentioned—she felt that none of them seriously explored the possibility of endometriosis, which compounded her frustration.
She highlighted her commitment to understanding her body better, stating that she worked with two pelvic floor therapists, underwent an MRI, and received a diagnosis of adenomyosis. Amidst the turmoil, a gynecologist advised her to consider birth control, suggesting that she “probably didn’t have endo.” She expressed her relief at having trusted her instincts in the face of differing opinions and encouraged others to advocate for their own health as well.
In her Instagram story, Reinhart emphasized her desire to “preserve fertility” as she navigates this diagnosis. She articulately questioned how so many medical professionals overlooked endometriosis during her search for answers and extended her gratitude to the pelvic floor specialists who guided her toward understanding the disease as a potential source of her pain.
Known for her role as Betty Cooper on the popular series Riverdale, which concluded this year after seven seasons, Reinhart has also taken on new projects, including starring in the thriller American Sweatshop and the TV series Hal & Harper. Reinhart has always preferred to maintain a sense of normalcy in her life, previously expressing her enjoyment for running errands without an assistant, as she relished the simplicity of everyday experiences.
