In a surprising turn of events, Nick Pinto, a 25-year-old MAGA crypto influencer, has publicly expressed disillusionment with former President Donald Trump following an extravagant dinner at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. Pinto attended this private dinner on May 22 after investing an eye-watering $370,000 in $TRUMP meme coins. Although it was billed as an exclusive opportunity to dine with Trump, Pinto’s experience fell short of expectations.
In an interview with the Daily Beast, Pinto reflected on how his perception of Trump has shifted since the dinner. “I look at Trump differently than I did before attending,” he stated. His sentiments came to light after the Australian news program Four Corners featured him in an episode titled “Chasing Trump’s Billions.” During this segment, Pinto recounted his disappointment, specifying that Trump left the venue without even enjoying a meal.
The dinner was part of an event promoting the $TRUMP meme coin, which had launched earlier in the year. Supporters spent at least $148 million on tickets, with a promise of intimate interaction with the former president. Protesters outside the venue expressed their discontent with signs reading, “America is not for sale” and “Stop Trump’s crypto corruption.”
With aspirations of capturing a memorable TikTok moment with Trump—who he initially hoped to include in a short video—Pinto found himself frustrated when the former president spoke for just 23 minutes before departing in a helicopter. “I was hoping to maybe do a trend or some short video with him, maybe 15 seconds,” Pinto lamented in a TikTok post during the dinner. “It’s not going to take much of his time.”
After Trump’s brief appearance, Pinto indicated that he realized the dinner was primarily a profit-driven venture. “I would say the entire dinner was about making money,” he noted. In a follow-up TikTok video, he expressed regret, indicating that all he received in return was a $TRUMP-branded cap, a poster, and a lanyard—items given to each attendee.
When asked if he felt cheated, Pinto candidly admitted to feelings of being scammed, citing the misleading promotional promises of dining with Trump. “If Trump had at least drank a Diet Coke with us or something like that, we definitely would not have felt scammed,” he confessed.
Despite his disillusionment with Trump, Pinto didn’t entirely abandon his crypto interests. He disclosed that he still holds nearly all of his $TRUMP coins, which were at one point valued at $480,000. He remains optimistic that potential future events could increase the coin’s value, enabling him to sell at a profit.
Pinto’s feelings about Trump have notably shifted; he has expressed reluctance to vote for the former president again, although he may consider supporting Trump’s children, whom he described as approachable and humble.
The heightened scrutiny of Trump’s business activities has become a recurring theme among journalists, with investigations revealing the financial intricacies behind the scenes. The recent encounter with Pinto serves to amplify the ongoing debate regarding Donald Trump’s dual roles as a political figure and a businessman, raising questions about the implications of such dynamics on his presidency and public image.
