The fire erupted around 8:20 a.m. at a building located on 107th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, quickly escalating to a fourth alarm shortly after 9 a.m., drawing a significant response from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY).
As emergency crews arrived, aerial footage from Chopper 4 revealed that the entire top floor of the building was consumed by flames, with thick black smoke pouring out from under the rooftops.
