MicroBT has officially unveiled an online storefront in the United States, providing customers with the opportunity to directly order domestically manufactured WhatsMiner bitcoin mining rigs. According to a post on WeChat, this new platform allows buyers to acquire U.S.-made WhatsMiners and even pick up their orders from a warehouse in Delaware, potentially within 24 hours of placing an order.
This strategic move underscores MicroBT’s ongoing commitment to localizing its operations in response to U.S. tariffs on Chinese-made mining hardware and the evolving landscape of institutional demand for such products. By manufacturing its machines domestically, the Shenzhen-based company aims to sidestep import tariffs and cut down on international shipping costs. This initiative also offers customers faster delivery times and access to local after-sales support.
MicroBT has reported that its U.S. supply chain is now capable of sustaining a monthly production exceeding 10,000 units, with a remarkable yield rate of up to 99%. To further enhance customer experience, the company has established service centers and tax-free storage facilities on both coasts of the U.S., along with three official repair hubs that guarantee responses within 24 hours and complete repairs in less than seven business days.
The company began investing in U.S. manufacturing in 2021, partnering with Synos well before the imposition of steep tariffs on Chinese-made mining rigs by Washington. These tariffs, coupled with rising shipping costs and extended lead times, along with a declining bitcoin mining hashprice, have negatively impacted institutional demand for mining hardware from major Chinese manufacturers throughout this year.
In a parallel effort to adapt to the changing market conditions, rival Bitmain is also exploring on-shore assembly and logistics centers in the U.S. Meanwhile, Canaan has been running domestic production pilot programs and recently forged a partnership with Luxor to facilitate Avalon sales to American miners. Bitdeer is capitalizing on its presence in Texas to expand its equipment deployment and is actively preparing to boost its U.S. manufacturing capabilities.
