M&T Bank customers faced significant disruptions with their accounts on Friday morning, starting around 5 a.m. Customers reported a range of issues primarily related to online and mobile banking platforms.
In response to these challenges, an M&T Bank spokesperson addressed the situation through the company’s social media channels. “We are currently experiencing issues impacting certain platforms, including Mobile. We are working closely with our technology team to resolve this matter,” the spokesperson stated, reassuring customers that the bank was actively working to fix the problems.
As the morning progressed, the severity of the situation became clearer. The Downdetector website, which monitors service outages, indicated a dramatic spike in customer reports, peaking at over 2,000 notifications around 9 a.m. Many customers took to Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustrations, particularly regarding delayed direct deposits that had not arrived in their accounts as expected.
The outage raised concerns among M&T Bank’s clientele, who count on timely access to their funds. As the bank works to resolve the technical difficulties, affected customers are left anxiously awaiting updates on their accounts and the restoration of normal banking services.
