New Trademarks Hint at Major Divinity Franchise Announcement Ahead of Game Awards

As anticipation builds for The Game Awards, set to unveil significant gaming announcements, the internet is rife with leaks and rumors. Among the most notable buzz is the unexpected revelation linked to the upcoming title Resident Evil: Requiem, highlighting an iconic character’s return. However, the most intriguing subject creating waves online is a mysterious demonic statue located in the Mojave Desert, heavily promoted by event host Geoff Keighley through enigmatic messages.

Speculation initially connected the statue to gaming heavyweights like God of War, Diablo 4, and The Elder Scrolls. However, insights from reputable insiders, including Jason Schreier, have debunked these theories. In light of this, many gaming enthusiasts are eager to uncover the truth behind the statue and any connection it may have to the event.

Emerging from the shadows of rumor is strong evidence suggesting that the Divinity franchise is gearing up for a significant announcement, possibly the very highlight that fans have been eagerly discussing. Recent developments have unveiled three new trademarks registered in Europe linked to the Divinity franchise. These trademarks consist of one logo and two accompanying icons that appear associated with promotional material. Although the identity of the trademark owner remains undisclosed, the unmistakable design signals a fresh project from Larian Studios, suggesting more than just a simple re-release.

A closer examination of one of the icons reveals a shape closely resembling the glowing form of the statue. This striking similarity implies a direct connection between the sculpture and the Divinity franchise, heightening excitement and speculation within the community. Overlay comparisons have drawn significant attention, suggesting a strong relationship between the icon and the statue’s image.

There remains mystery surrounding the purpose of the third trademark, which some speculate could reference abilities from the games. However, speculation abounds that it might pertain to the Black Ring faction, notably linked to the character known as the God King, whose design echoes elements found in both the trademark and the statue.

Adding to the intrigue, industry insiders have hinted that while the reveal might not satisfy everyone, fans of the studio and genre will likely appreciate what is to come. This suggests that the announcement may be tailored towards a niche audience, resonating well with the complex RPG roots of the Divinity series.

Fans have recently noted the presence of a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag for Divinity: Original Sin II on the PlayStation Store, coupled with age ratings for current-gen versions of the game that surfaced previously. However, mere updates would not suffice to meet the excitement surrounding such a heavily anticipated announcement.

Speculation around the statue has led many to believe that a new installment, Divinity: Original Sin 3, could be on the horizon. Although Larian Studios confirmed no plans for this specific title, it does not negate the possibility of new Divinity content emerging, as the series encompasses various titles, with Original Sin being a prequel to the original saga.

The director of publishing at Larian further clarified that while there are no immediate plans for Original Sin 3, the potential for a new Divinity title still exists. Many fans anticipate that an upgrade for Original Sin II could coincidentally accompany the announcement of a new game, aligning perfectly with the recent trademark filings and suggesting a remarkable revival for the Divinity series.

As the community eagerly awaits official confirmation at The Game Awards, all eyes are turned towards Larian Studios and the impending mysteries surrounding the Divinity franchise.
