The Northern Cincinnati Foundation has made a significant announcement regarding its commitment to supporting education within the community. An impressive $3.2 million donation has been designated to establish a scholarship fund specifically aimed at helping students attend three prominent Catholic high schools in the area. This generous award, facilitated by an anonymous donor using Bitcoin cryptocurrency, is set to create the Six Degrees of Humility Scholarship Endowment.
This scholarship initiative will grant eligible incoming students full tuition coverage at Archbishop Moeller, Mount Notre Dame, and Stephen T. Badin high schools, with benefits commencing in 2026. The visionary donor has also indicated intentions for future contributions, which will allow for the expansion of the scholarship program to include all high schools within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
The scholarship’s name has been inspired by the teachings of Louis of Granada, a 16th-century Dominican theologian known for promoting values such as selflessness, grace in times of difficulty, and a dedication to serving others. These virtues align closely with the aims of the scholarship, which seeks to cultivate principled, young Catholic leaders.
Erin Satzger, president of the Northern Cincinnati Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, highlighting the combination of modernity and tradition that the fund represents. “This fund represents the best of both worlds—innovation and tradition,” Satzger remarked. She further emphasized that while Bitcoin is a contemporary method of philanthropy, the core values it aims to uphold—faith, humility, and service—are timeless and deeply rooted in the community’s ethos.
