MoonPay has made a significant announcement, revealing that renowned street skateboarder Nyjah Huston will serve as the official Team Ambassador for the inaugural MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Summer Season. This collaboration marks a milestone in action sports, rooted in MoonPay’s three-year title partnership with X Games, the first of its kind in the event’s history.
The MoonPay X Games League, introduced earlier this year, aims to establish a permanent team-based competitive framework for athletes across various disciplines, including skateboarding, BMX, snowboarding, and freeskiing. This innovative structure is designed to enhance athletes’ salaries and benefits, open avenues for team ownership, and cultivate compelling season-long storylines that foster genuine rivalries.
Huston, recognized as the most accomplished Skateboard Street competitor, enters his 20th year with the X Games, boasting an impressive collection of accolades that includes 15 gold medals and a bronze medal from the 2024 Olympics. His role as a MoonPay XGL Founder Athlete has allowed him to influence the development of the league, focusing on competition formats, the athlete experience, and a fan-centered culture.
In Huston’s words, “In street skating, if you’re not pushing the boundaries, you’re falling behind. It’s all about progression. I look at crypto the same way—it’s the future, and it’s moving fast.” He expressed enthusiasm about partnering with MoonPay to bolster the evolution of action sports.
Ivan Soto-Wright, CEO and Founder of MoonPay, described Huston as a trailblazer who aligns with their vision of innovation and transformation within the sports space. “Builders recognize builders. Nyjah has spent his whole career doing what people said couldn’t be done. So have we,” he stated, emphasizing the synergy between Huston’s career and MoonPay’s mission.
As part of the collaboration, Huston will engage with fans through personal appearances at events in Sacramento, Japan, and New Orleans, and will represent the brand in various media contexts throughout the Summer Season. The season kicks off on June 26, 2026, in Sacramento, and features four clubs: XC Los Angeles, XC New York, XC São Paulo, and XC Tokyo. Fans can watch the events live across platforms including the ESPN App, The Roku Sports Channel, YouTube, and Kick.com.
Additionally, the partnership promotes a unique pass-through model that allows MoonPay’s extensive network of partners to dive into the MoonPay XGL ecosystem through various interactive initiatives.
