OKX Ventures, the investment branch of the global cryptocurrency exchange, has made a significant move by investing in STBL, a pioneering provider of stablecoin and yield infrastructure. STBL, co-founded by Reeve Collins—who gained recognition for co-founding Tether—and tokenization expert Avtar Sehra, has also established a partnership with Hamilton Lane, an alternative investment management firm, alongside Securitize, a regulated digital securities issuance company that counts BlackRock among its clientele.
The collaboration aims to develop a stablecoin that is backed by real-world assets (RWA) on OKX’s Ethereum-compatible layer-2 blockchain, known as X Layer. As detailed in a recent press release, this initiative includes a feeder fund associated with Hamilton Lane’s Senior Credit Opportunities Fund (SCOPE), which will be issued and tokenized through Securitize.
Sehra, who serves as the CEO of STBL, emphasized the evolving nature of RWA markets, stating, “Tokenization must deliver real utility, not just representation.” He highlighted that STBL is designed with a specialized architecture to accommodate RWA-backed stablecoins while ensuring compliant yield management.
Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, remarked on the power of their collaboration, explaining how tokenization can add value to assets when it is integrated with regulated issuance and programmable settlement. He commented, “By embedding institutional private credit directly into onchain money flows, we’re turning tokenized assets into functional building blocks: assets that can be settled, composed, and used across financial applications, not just held.”
This partnership presents an innovative approach to bridging traditional finance and blockchain technology, potentially transforming the landscape of stablecoins and asset-backed securities.
