DETROIT – The Powerball drawing on Wednesday night will feature an eye-popping jackpot of over $1.4 billion, with a cash option available for winners set at approximately $634.3 million. If a lucky ticket holder claims the jackpot, it would mark the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot in history and the sixth-largest jackpot across all U.S. lotteries.
Michigan last celebrated a Powerball jackpot victory on January 1, 2024, when a Mid-Michigan lottery club achieved an astounding win of $842.4 million with a ticket bought in Grand Blanc. This remains the largest Powerball prize ever recorded in the state.
For those eager for a chance to win, the winning Powerball numbers for September 3, 2025, were drawn as follows: 61, 29, 69, 16, and 03, with the Powerball being 22. The Power Play multiplier was set at 2x.
Playing Powerball is simple, with tickets costing $2 for each play. However, in Idaho and Montana, the game is bundled with Power Play, bringing the minimum ticket cost to $3. Tickets are available for purchase at various retail locations throughout Michigan, as well as online at MichiganLottery.com.
To play, players must select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69 for the white balls, and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. Participants can either manually fill out their numbers on a play slip or opt for a quick pick, where the lottery terminal generates random numbers.
Jackpot winners have two options for receiving their winnings: they can choose an annuity, which is paid out in 30 graduated payments over a period of 29 years, or they can take a lump sum payment. It’s important to note that both options are subject to federal and jurisdictional taxes.
Drawings for the Powerball occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern time, from the Florida Lottery draw studio located in Tallahassee. With the jackpot reaching such astronomical heights, excitement is building among lottery enthusiasts across the nation.
